The Story of Bada
Bada is our newest resident to the Sanctuary, joining us in December of 2022.
Winter of 2022, we received a call from a woman who was struggling financially and unable to provide food for her horses. One of the horses, named Bada, who is 18 years old, was terribly malnourished and had not been able to graze on grass for over a year, as he had been living in a sand lot.
The owner was considering putting Bada down, but the cost of euthanization was too expensive, so she admitted she had planned to shoot him. Upon arrival at The Sanctuary, when Bada was finally able to see grass again, he became very excited, ate like a champ and began to gain weight rapidly. In just 3 short weeks, he gained 85 pounds!
The owner had previously mentioned that Bada had medical problems that prevented him from gaining weight, but this turned out not to be true.
